Oracle Docs, Everyone is invited…. July 30, 2006

Oracle Documentation is among the most useful and most popular resource for anyone who wants to learn the know-hows of Oracle Database.  The importance of its can be judged from a quote from world’s leading Oracle expert Tom Kyte,”If you read and retain just 10% of Oracle Documentation, you will know more than 90% of the people around you.” Earlier  for the access of  documentation, OTN was the first place to go as it was a must to have a valid OTN username and password to access docs.  Now the most prominent question you would ask that what’s the big deal in it? After all its just a username and password that one has to remember and it takes less than 5 minutes to create a new account.  But sadly some of us are not that patient even!
So now from now, Oracle’s documentation is made accessible to public and everyone is invited to come and access it.  The earlier requirement of OTN membership has now been removed and moreover, Oracle has come up with a new Oracle Search Site which gives a very simple interface to search anything from various Oracle resources like Oracle docs, OTN etc.  Needless to say that it will create a huge impact for all those who earlier were reluctant to use docs just for the sake of creating a new account and remembering one more username/password and this step will surely increase the popularity of docs among the Oracle community.
PS: I have added this site to my favorite lists also.  Check out the links for the specific url.

As you have already have noticed there is a list of my most visited websites and daily read blog maintained on my Personal APEX website  and on my Tripod website  . Besides these two places, I maintain it own my Blogger’s Blog too. This includes which are not related to Oracle or anything related to IT even and also some very special and most popular sites of Oracle Database and Solaris Operating System. I am always in search for the new and the best sites/blog which can be beneficial and useful for both the techno people as well as the those who have nothing to do with IT altogether.  So continuing the process, following are the latest editions in my favorite blog/site lists.  Hope you will find them useful for you.  Have a look:
  • YouTube – A very unique website which is having thousands of music videos hosted on it.  They come from all the artists, bands and music groups.  Great place to hear as well as see music.

A new beginning…. July 29, 2006

Marriage is one of the most beautiful things that can happen in anyone’s life.  Having someone with you for the rest of life in all the moments, joys and sorrows gives an immense satisfaction beyond words. No no I am not yet married. Plans? No no plans are there too.  If you really ask me this is not something a must-do thing now for me.  Anyways I am not here to rant about my personal desire of getting married but this is about my closest friend who got engaged yesterday.  I am so much happy for him.  It just feels that it was yesterday only when we were kids and joined school together.  Been years since then, don’t know where time has gone.  It feels so nice and a little strange to think about it now.  But that’s the beauty of life isn’t it?So as I was telling that my friend got engaged yesterday.  Both the guy and the gal were so much happy, were looking great together.  It was a great feeling to see someone so close tieing a knot.  That feeling cant be explained in words.Aman and Raman,my heartiest wishes to both of you.  May God bless you with this whole worlds joys and happiness for the rest of your lives.  No pains and sad things must never be able to come near to your shadows even!
Here is the couple on the occasion of the ring-ceremony:
On an another note, here is me in a different posture altogether.  I have no idea what I was thinking at that time and when this snap was taken by my friend who is there in the pic above?

Few words….Again! July 26, 2006

Posted by Aman.... in Random Stuff.

As I said before when I wrote Few Words  and Once Again  that I am no where even near to be an artist and not trying to be too.  What ever is there in these lines, it is just what my heart says and feels about somethings. For me, it just giving words to my feelings so if there is some thing that is not right or doesn’t make sense in an artistic way than just assume, it was never intended to be like that at the first place. Do let me know your comments for sure, good and bad, both are equally welcome.
I still remember the first day we met,
I still remember the first words you said!
I was alone, never met love ever before,
You came, it felt as a wave met the shore!
I felt contended, I felt complete,
You were my every wish, everything I ever need!
We started a journey  holding hands,
Life became heaven as touched by a magic wand!
There was happiness, there were only smiles,
With you, endless dreams I set in my eyes!
Everywhere was shine of dreams, warmth of those smiles,
But I forgot, dreams shatter too with the sound of cries!
We made a promise of being together forever,
You broke it when you said, you loved me never!
You changed your path, said we have to get apart,
Left me behind with the pieces of my crushed heart!
Those pieces now drop through these lonely eyes,
They will never stop, no matter how hard I shall try!

Back to home…. July 21, 2006

And tired!Yes I came back from my assignment last morning. There were couple of things that happened on this trip.Good or bad?Well I cant say exactly good or bad about all of them, yes some were really good that’s for sure.I shall tell about them just after a while. How did the assignment job go? Yes one of the most important and best things that happened was that my assignment went well. I came back smiling and left smiles on the faces of all too who were associated with it.
So all of you who are regular here, they know this that I left on 13th of this month. Well I have to go to Delhi coz from there only one can catch the flight, either domestic or international. So my flight was from Sahara Airlines, supposed to fly at 19:50pm. Ok I was there at the airport at around 18:00pm.So far good. Well did the check in and all that and I was there at the waiting room. There were couple of other passengers there too going with me to Hyderabad. Time was coming nearer but there was nothing from the ground staff about the flight whether it was going to fly or not?Anyway sitting there on a couch, waiting endlessly, I met Rajan, another fellow passenger like me, going from Delhi to Hyderabad. We started talking and I asked him a lot about the best places to visit in Hyderabad as he was basically from Hyderabad but now is working in Delhi in an automobile company as marketing manager. He told me to visit, CharMinar, Golkunda Fort, for food, a nice restaurent, AnaPurna( I yet to go there) and pearl shops. Time was passing in this chit-chat and we were talking about unexpected flight delays in India and abroad when it comes to domestic flights. As we were talking this, we came to know that its already 21:15pm and nothing was there from the staff. Well one another passenger lost his temper and made a desperate but angry call to the airline and finally asked what is happening? So we came to know that tyres of the plane needed to be chnaged so we have to wait a little more. What could we do?Well we were requested to have tea/coffee.We had with this question in our minds that at dinner time, who is realling asking for tea?Well we had to have that only which was available. So after all the wait, when everything was done, finally the flight took off at 22:30pm!Cool isnt it?Well not so much if you ask a fair and honest opinion.Got back at guesthouse, had my dinner at about 1:30am than forced myself to sleep as i was supposed to report next morning in the office. This is how it was started.Well it went well at the end and thats the best part of the trip.Hmm one of the best part I must say. This time, I got a new friend, Fazal. What a nice guy!! Extremely intelligent, sensible and caring. Truely a gem with a heart of gold.Thats the second thing that happened with me on this trip.
So everything got finished and I had to get back to home.I was at the airport.Rushed from office, took the cab and was there at 18:00pm, exactly one hour before the “scheduled” time of 19:10, Indian!Alrite so I was hungry, bought a coke can, a sandwitch.I dropped the sandwitch :-(.Ok so I was left with can.Sure I could go and buy another but I got a  call in between from my friend Amandeep who got here in India from London just 2 days ago. He is going to get engaged so this trip is really special for him and for me too. So I talked with Amandeep for good 30 minutes, dicussing everything from weather of London, Hyderabad, current news, ofcourse about his fiance and also he asked me when I am going to get married and got the same answer from me, not yet ,not soon and dont know!Well I was finished I saw the time, it was 18:45pm.What happened?I was supposed to be in the plane but I was on the airport still. No not again please! But as they say what is decided will happen, doesnt matter what anyone says/wishes.Flight got delayed by 30 minutes.Alrite, I can live with that much wait. Started moving around. There is always something that happens in front of you to amaze you, make you smile. In this process, just when 30 minutes were about to over, we got an announcement, flight is going to be delayed for another 60 minutes coz the connecting flight has not come yet from Bombay.Dont tell me this now please!Well I was back on the seat in the waiting room.Had no idea what to do.Just one thing was left to do so started it.Thinking abstract things.Dont know where 60 minutes flew away.We were in the plane atleast now at 20.30.
Well without any heart breaking news from pilot, flight took off well and safely. Air hostess were nice and friendly, I just had to ask for my cotton buds for mere 3 times :-).Food was as it was supposed to be.You must remember one good proverb  always for eating it, hunger is the best sauce ;-).So it really didnt matter how it was!Well we were supposed to land by 22.40 but we got the news that there is no landing space available and to make things worst, there were 22 more planes in the line in front of us.So we now had to wait. This wait means another one and half hour in the sky.Great what else I could ask for?Why they didnt ask me that I had to take a bus after this flight to my home which would take another 7 hours to get me there?Well no one asked and cared about it so I just could sit and wait for the plane to land.It landed, I collected my baggage, took the cab and left for bus stand.I was supposed to be there in 20 minutes but my cab driver was in the mood of making me seeing Delhi so he took 45 minutes to get me there. So finally I was there at bus stand, took the bus( which luckily was ready to leave when I got there) at 1:00am.I got at home at about 7:15am, took an auto and got back home. Finally I was at home, one piece. Was I tired?Hmm did I mention that I didnt sleep at all in all this?Well I was tired or not is not a good question to ask isnt it?Let me rephrase it a little. How much tired was I?Sounds more appropriate isnt it :-).Well I got back, A called.I had to go shopping with him, collect some of my documents from city so I just had my bath and left again.Sleep, rest? What do these mean?
Alrite so now everything is finished( I guess so) so I shall sleep now for some time and take some rest .I cant have a full day sleep as I have to study and there is some more work to do.I have some very interesing topic to discuss which shall be the next part of  the Love, some fold unfolded series.Come back for it, I shall discuss something which is very common to happen in a relation but not very pleasent for most of the people.
PS: I am listening “Oh Rutan wangu badal gaye”.I shall explain the meaning of it in my next blog, about which I mentioned just now.

After so long…. July 12, 2006

Posted by Aman.... in Random Stuff.

Some times it happens that you like something/someone so much and just can’t live without that thing/person.  It can be anything.  It doesn’t matter that it has to be a person only, it can be a song/place/piece of jewelry/anything & everything.  It happens with all of us isn’t it? I am sure there must be something/someone without which/whom you too can’t live without.  If you don’t have yet anyone/anything which is having this special place in your heart/life than just wait.  Very soon it will come to you  coz you never know what you were missing till it doesn’t come to you and you never realize what you have lost till the time it already has left you.  If you don’t have anyone yet, just wait and watch coz you will come to know only when he/she would  be in front of you to amaze you.  Trust me its going to happen and it will.
Yes we all have or once had something/someone which we liked the most/loved so much.  But its not a must that what we love/like must like us too.  Sometimes life takes a turn and everything becomes dark, so much painful and what you at times liked/loved so much, you get scared to your wits to even come near to that person/thing.  Even flowers start hurting, even air starts ripping the body and this world’ eyes start penetrating the soul.  Worst conditions happen when someone is emotional.  Yes I know we all are emotional but you know some are more than others, who take everything on themselves, think and cry for what happened.  This happens with those who are like this.  Am I like that?Hmm cant say?Or should I say GUESS :-)?What I am going to tell you, read it and decide for yourself.
There were 2 songs that I used to like so much. I mentioned one in my websites also, it is Gori Teri Aankhen Kahen. The other is a pop album, Tera Mera Pyar. I used to like them so much.  The first one was the first song that I dedicated to someone and made that person hear it.  Its from Lucky Ali.  The lyrics are very touching and video of it is also very heart-touching.  Luckily, that person liked it too. The other is a pop-album, having a variety of songs with title song, Tera Mera Pyar. Very sweet, melodious song.  It has beautiful numbers, all very nice and sweet.  Out of all, my favorite was ,Dil Mera Kho Gaya. That was the first disk that I gifted someone. Luckily it was liked and appreciated too. Then as I said before, somethings happen which turn your life upside and down. Sort of like that happened with me too.  After it I stopped listening to these 2 songs/albums altogether.  Its going to be almost 2 years today that I didn’t hear them.  But I was wrong in doing so.  Someone very close to me made me hear them again yesterday and I did hear them. It brought back a lot of memories but I did listen both of these songs and promised that I shall listen them forever now. Sometimes we, with ourselves are not capable enough for doing something.  We need someone to hold our hands and make us stand/walk again. I did something like this yesterday when I heard these songs again.
I shall conclude by saying this, yes it does hurt at times when you look and long to see a moment to cherish, a moment to bring a smile on your face.  If you find that moment, you are very lucky.  Enjoy that moment fully.  But if you cant find it, than too don’t lose heart. Sometimes things get rough.  But don’t keep you away from those little things that you know can make you smile. Whose presence is as much important as anything else can be.  One of my friends said this to me and its really true, the sun is still somewhere shining even though it rains at somewhere else. So true isn’ it?

There are a lot of bloggers who have moved from Blogger  to WordPress  and to some other sites too like Serendipity. Tim Hall, Doug Burns are just a few to name. Well I do have  my own replica WordPress blog which goes along with  my Blogger’s blog . The latest move which I forgot to update in my blogs and my Tripod web site was of Pete Scott’s blog.  Earlier it was on Blogger   but now its on WordPress . Well I must say that the new home is much better looking and nice. The only problem with the changing homes is that one has to constantly update their favorite links all the time but if you really like a particular blog/site than this much effort is not a very big deal :-).
PS:  I have added another blog on my favorite list.  Its the first blog that I have added which is completely about Solaris and is managed by  a Solaris veteran for his entire career. The blog is from Mike and is named as Mike’s Solaris blog . Looks interesting. Have a read.

Bloglines,Qumana and Venom…. July 10, 2006

If you are thinking I am going to use some Alien language,no that’s not the case here :-). I am going to share something which can be helpful if you read and write blog like me and then my views about a movie, yes Venom is the name of a movie.
There are times when we get hooked to a lot of  blogs and its not easy to cope up with all of them to find out the new enteries.Surely you  can subscribe with the RSS feeds on FireFox and Opera but what about when you would leave your desktop and would be traveling? What about when you have to reinstall the operating system and also your browsers? Would be a problem isn’t it?So here is something which can be useful for you.Bloglines is an online feed management portal which takes care of the latest entries on your favorite blogs and would let you know how many new posts are there which you have missed since you last visited them.  Not just the blogs but also it can also take care of your favorite News, Comics, Email Newsletters too. It also saves you from entering the RSS feeds every time on a new install and moreover as its online so its with you wherever you would go.  Very handy and very helpful! If you are not able to find the RSS feed for your favorite blog/newsletter, than have a look at www.Feed43.com which can convert any web page into an RSS feed on the fly.
If you like to write blogs like me, than give Qumana  a try.  Its the blog editor I am using since the first time I started writing my blog.  Its simple, its neat and its very easy to use. The interface is very easy to use. I know there are so many other blog editing softwares too but this is something which I like and use.  So thought would share with you all.
Alrite so Bloglines is done and so is Qumana.  So now we are left with Venom . I saw this movie last night. Its an horror movie ( well as they say it is in the promos and description of it) but I really couldn’t convince myself that I am really watching a horror movie.  Though there was a lot of crying, shouting, people running around all over the places with a lot of blood but still that part, horror was missing. Infact it missed a very important part which is must for a movie to have.  What it is? Story :-).I couldn’t understand that what was the story all about and why anyone would want to make a movie on such a story on which this movie was based? I really want to tell you the story but I have no idea from where to start and where to finish?Let me think one more time.Phew!!No I gave up. Fearless from Jet Li is the next in the list. Based on the reviews  from Tim Hall, it would be a good movie. If you see it before me, do let me know your views too.
